New Utica Boilers Patent - 11/09/2018

This past July 3rd, 2018 – ECR International Inc. announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office had issued US Patent 10,012,413 B2, entitled "Heat Exchanger".

We recently celebrated this achievement with a plaque presented to Jim McKallip (Director of Engineering) and Hongmin Li (Chief Boiler Engineer).

The patent covers the design and manufacturing of our vertically mounted helical fin tube heat exchanger made of 316L/444 stainless steel. The fins are laser welded on the stainless-steel tube resulting in greater strength and heat transfer capabilities.  The larger diameter coils provide increased water flow and reduce scaling.  Moreover, the heat exchanger’s vertical position drains away any debris and scale and in doing so is self-cleaning.  This proprietary technology is found on Utica Boilers condensing models SSC and SSV.

 About the SSC and SSV:

Inputs of the gas-fired SSC and SSV modulating condensing models range from 50 MBH to 200 MBH of heating.  All capacities of the SSC and SSV are ENERGY STAR® 2018 Most Efficient with 95% AFUE and a 5:1 turn down ratio. Both models feature the patented heat exchanger design. The SSV and SSC are approved for PVC, CPVC and Polypropylene venting and come with a 15-year limited manufacturer's warranty. In addition, all SSV models include a 2-year parts and labor warranty, while the SSC includes a first year $500 heat exchanger labor warranty.
